The post-Guru period in the Sikh history is marked by a long-drawn struggle against their persecution by the oppressive Mughal governments which prepared ground for the political ascendency of the Sikhs.
Sohan singh Seetal entered the field of literary creation after 1947. He was a Punjabi author,poet and lyricist. On the whole, Seetal has described in his novels the countryside of Central Punjab and the life of its people. Seetal's concern with the peasant's life takes a populist form. His novel Jug Badal Gya won the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1974.
